Hotel Button Parma

The ancient capital of the Duke of Parma and Piacenza, divided in two by the Parma River, this city hosts numerous architectural works of significant renown.
The Cathedral, one of the major Roman architectural works in Italy, whose dome was designed by Correggio, is erected on the same Piazza del Battistero di Benedetto Antelami, a striking monument in pink marble, signalling the passage from the Roman to the Gothic era.

The San Paolo Complex, an 11th century Benedictine monastery, houses "San Paolo's Room", with an alfresco created between 1519 and 1520 by Correggio.
Almost adjacent to Piazza Garibaldi is the Greek cross layout of the Church of Santa Maria della Steccata, a grand building with apses on each arm and whose design was attributed to Bramante in Vasari's "Le Vite".

In the "Oltretorrente" common quarter, the so called "Parma Vecchio" (Old Parma), monuments of admirable artistic beauty can be found, including the Church of S.S Annunziata, the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie and the Oratorio di Sant'Ilario di Parma, dedicated to the town patron and located inside the historical "Ospedale Vecchio" (Old Hospital) complex.

The Regio Theatre of Parma, inaugurated by Duchess Maria Luigia with the lyrical opera "Zaira", by Vincenzo Bellini on 16th May 1829, is one of the most important theatres in the Italian lyrical scene. Each year the theatre hosts numerous operas, concerts and ballets, including dances by Parma Danza and the Festival Verdi during the month of October.
