Hotel Button Reggia di Colorno

The fortress of Colorno, built in 1337 by Azzo da Correggio for the purpose of defending Oltrepò, was restored by Barbara Sanseverino, who transformed it into a palace, making it the site for a sophisticated court and prestigious collection of paintings by Tiziano, Correggio, Mantegna and Raffaello.

At the beginning of the 18th century, upon the ruins of the Fortress, Duke Francesco Farnese built the Reggia di Colorno with over 400 rooms, courts and courtyards, embraced by the spectacular and recently restored French Garden.

Inside the Reggia, the neoclassic Chapel of San Liborio is housed, today representing the largest private chapel in Italy.
The Reggia di Colorno, today used to host numerous temporary and cultural exhibitions, also houses an important astronomical observatory. Since 2004, various areas of the Duke's Palace of Colorno are also occupied by "ALMA", the International School of Italian Cooking. The School Rector is Master Gualtiero Marchesi.
